THE bonds that connect the new school of Glaswegian electronic music with Sheffield’s legendary Warp Records are strong. Founded in the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire in 1989, the seminal label has always had a reputation for putting out intelligent dance music – its roster includes artists like Aphex Twin, Autechre and LFO.

Tomorrow night, independent Glasgow label and party crew Numbers is teaming up with Wap for this enormous showcase at the Art School. The lineup is dripping with that “big December blowout” vibe: it features the enigmatic, experimental Turin-based producer Yves Tumor, the hyperkinetic, infectious, super-noisy Sophie, and “brainiac” Berlin veteran Errorsmith.

Add the return of two hometown heroes in Rustie and Hudson Mohawk into the mix and you have the makings of an all-time classic. Between them, the pair have released six albums on Warp and are cult figures ‘round here, their presence halfway down the bill as “special guests” belying the very real prospect that every single person in the venue will be there to see them.

The anticipation is even greater given that this is Rustie’s first gig in over a year. The Pollokshields producer has been keeping it quiet since the release of Evenifyoudontbelieve back in 2015, but after an extended period working on new material at home, he’s back with a specially-selected set of his deviant electro. Hudmo brings his usual abstract electronica for what should be a pretty memorable homecoming.

Numbers x Warp with Rustie, tomorrow, The Art School, 11pm – 4am, £17

Ferry Corsten

Ferry Corsten is one of the biggest trance DJs around right now: a world-straddling behemoth who helped to make the genre the global phenomenon that it is today. The very definition of the superstar DJ, this show at SWG3 on Saturday is his only Scottish date of 2017 – so be sure to get down to Finnieston to catch the Dutch master in action.

Ferry Corsten, Saturday, SWG3, 9pm – 3am, £27

Art’s House

After last week’s trip north to play Jackmaster’s MS Fundraiser at SWG3, everyone’s favourite DJ Artwork is back in Glasgow tonight for Art’s House, his own curated series of shows. He’s invited Peggy Gou, the Seoul selector whose remarkable rise through Berlin’s underground scene has made her one of the most in-demand DJs in Europe. Her set at Sub Club Soundsystem back in August showcased her singular take on dark, pulsating house and techno – it’s being talked about as one of the shows of the year, and this intimate Subbie show is likely to be pretty good also. Arthouse, for his part, is just great fun: delivering loose, free-range house vibes with his own inimitable sense of humour.

Art’s House with Peggy Gou, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm – 4am, sold out

Freakender

A moveable feast of psychedelic weirdo goodness takes over the Flying Duck on Saturday as local promoters Freakender host this Christmas cracker of a one-night festival. Southsiders Sweaty Palms bring their fidgety garage rock and local trio Lylo will be showing off their tingling, jazz-inflected blue-eyed soul, while self-styled Clapton cowboys Creatures make the long drive from London to treat us to their jangly, Rough Trade-endorsed indie pop.

Freakender Mega Xmas Party, Saturday, The Flying Duck, 8pm – 4am, £6

Melting Pot

Disco veterans Melting Pot bring their high-fidelity funk and soul vibes to SWG3’s Poetry Club – scene of some serious debauchery over the years, despite the name – for the first time ever tomorrow night. It’s residents Simon Pirie and Andrew Cordiner on for the full four-hour session, so expect the club’s tiny space to become a tightly-packed, super-heated disco cave as the night rumbles on.

Melting Pot, tomorrow, The Poetry Club, 10pm – 3am, £5/£8

Fantastic Girls

Bloc’s most ludicrously brilliant night Fantastic Man decamps to Stereo this weekend – and ramps up the femininity – for the biggest show they’ve ever done. There will be guest DJs, there will be surprises, and without a doubt some very sweaty people are going to take their vests off and swing them around in the air while Linkin Park plays in the background. Sounds ace, if you ask me.

Fantastic Girls, tomorrow, Stereo, 11pm – 3am, £4
