This is the moment a man puts on a Christmas jumper for the time in his life after being hypnotised into losing a staggering seven stone in weight.

Paul Garland, 64, said he I loves Christmas but could never find a festive jumper in his XXXL size.

But the retired electrician donned his snug woollen sweater in time for National Christmas Jumper Day tomorrow.

He said: "It's just great. I like Christmas and it's nice to wear a Christmas jumper.

"I never thought I would be able to buy one in a normal size and it feels great.

"My wife Sarah thinks it looks lovely.

Glasgow Times:

"I'll be wearing it on Christmas day."

No normal sized Xmas jumper could be pulled over 5ft10in tall Paul's enormous 54in chest in early 2016.

Paul, from Chandlers Ford, Hants., who used to call joggers "sad", always had weight problems and was then addicted eating 250g of cheddar cheese every day.

He was shamed into his dramatic weight loss after being was forced to buy clothes from specialist stores for overweight men and online when he weighed 21st4lbs.

Glasgow Times:

Paul says he is now a "gym junkie" after he kicked his dairy habit and shed six stones in as many months thanks to clinical hypnotherapy treatment.

He was also being told to stop eating crisps and savoury biscuits during 14 sessions with Mary Burgess Hypnotherapy from January to July 2016.

He kept up his fitness regime and continued to shed the pounds - now weighing a much healthier 14st4lbs and easily fitting into L-size shirts.

"I thought I've tried all sort of diets, I'll try hypnotism," Paul said.

"The experience is like you're sitting, May pulls the curtains, you get comfortable in the chair, you lay back, close your eyes, she plays some soothing music and she talks you down into a state which is very much like when you wake up in the morning but are not quite awake.

"She puts triggers in her conversation with you - to not have coke or to have smaller portions, don't eat the savoury biscuits or crisps.

"After the first few sessions she gives you a Microsoft wav. file which you can then sit down and play the session in your home.

"After I lost a couple of stones she said try and up your walking of eight to ten thousand steps I did.

"Then I found the weather really nice and last year I was maybe doing five to six miles a day.

"When the weather changed last September I joined the local gym which I never thought I would do in my life.

"I go five days a week now, I'm a bit of a gym junkie when I never thought I would be.

"I used to say, 'look at those sad people jogging' when I was in the car but I go out and I can jog and do run."

Clinical Hypnotherapist Mary Burgess said: "I'm really proud of him because when I first met him he was exceptionally overweight.

"He did everything, he followed all of the guidelines that he listened to his recordings at home.

"He did really really well and like he said, it's been life changing for him."

She charged him £510 for 14 sessions over six months from January 2016.
