Aldi customers are furious after sold out Kevin and Katy carrot toys have been posted by cheeky shoppers on eBay - for a staggering £1,000.

Brazen customers who managed to snag the elusive duo have taken to the auction site to 'dangle the carrot' in front of families desperate to get their hands on the toys.

The adorable plush vegetables could be bought for just £2.99 in store yesterday (Dec 14) but have now been posted online for up to a shocking £1,000.

Stores had limited stock - enough for two per customer - and shoppers snapped them up, with many customers queuing out of the doors.

Within hours Kevin and Katy were appearing on the auction site with ridiculous price tags.

The interest in the carrots has peaked since the popular series of Aldi adverts were released which showcase the 'adventures' of Kevin and Katy.

Desperate customers have even set up Facebook groups dedicated to finding stock of the carrots, with one group hosting 693 members stalking the veg toys.

One angry Facebook user said: "Just went in to get the Baby carrots Aldi, but they sold out in first five minutes.

"No way was I queuing for them at 8am!"

Twitter users were also reporting huge queues and 'scrums' to get their hands on the toys.

One user said: "Got my carrots, they were out of the door this morning at my local Aldi in Leigh."

Another said: "That was a new experience, I was in the queue for #Aldi before 8, and joined in the scrum, but got my carrots! #KevinandKatie."

The products are sold in support of Aldi's charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

It's the second year that the popular character has been the star of the supermarket's festive ad created by Manchester-based agency McCann.
