THOUSANDS of people were left without water overnight due to a burst pipe.
Scottish Water have confirmed that the water main in Glasgow Road, Kilmarnock has now been repaired and that they are working to restore normal supply to customers.
An 16 inch water main was found to be damaged on Saturday afternoon which left around 1500 properties affected by the incident.
Repair work was carried out overnight and was completed by Sunday morning.
The water main is now being re-charged.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: "The repair proved to be complex and we would like to thank customers for their patience while we continue to resolve the situation.
"We apologise to anyone who has been without water during the period of this incident and would like to assure you that we are doing all that we can to ensure supplies are restored."
Affected properties could experience discoloured water, which is normal after a burst of this nature.
Customers are also advised to run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.
