A hunt is underway after a teenage boy was assaulted and robbed in Paisley on Saturday evening.

Police have described the attack as “despicable” as they issued descriptions of two suspects they are looking to trace.

Cops said the attack happened at around 5.15pm as he walked along Rowan Street.

He was approached by two men who assaulted him and robbed him of his mobile phone.

The suspects then made their way along Rowan Street, heading in the direction of Neilston Road.

The victim returned home and police were contacted.

He did not require medical treatment.

The first suspect is described as white male, 5ft 8 in height, between 18 and 25-years-old, of skinny build and gaunt appearance, dark hair and unshaven. He was wearing a navy, hooded top.

The second suspect is described as white male, 5ft 8 in height, between 18 and 25-years-old, of heavy build and gaunt appearance. He was wearing a grey, hooded top.

Detective Constable David McIntosh from Paisley CID said: “This was a despicable attack on an innocent teenager who had simply been making his way home and extensive enquiries are underway to trace the individuals involved.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Rowan Street around the time of the incident a may have noticed two men matching the above descriptions, or anything suspicious at all, to please get in touch.”
