A rugby match between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh rugby was suspended today due to fire alarms at the stadium.

The game was taking place at Scotstoun stadium in Glasgow when the entire stadium was made to evacuate just before half-time.

Players and fans exited the stadium and play was suspended.

Both teams updated fans on twitter with Glasgow Warriors writing: "The game has been suspended and the stadium is being evacuated. We'll provide more information shortly."

It was later announced that it had been a false alarm and the stadium was re-filled a short time later.

Play commenced again at 4.30pm with the beginning of the second half.

Fans were quick to comment on how the G4 staff working at the event handled the evacuation with one twitter user Kenneth McNaughton writing: "Thank goodness there was nothing serious going on during today's evacuation. I have to question the lack of proffesionalism during the evacuation procedure. The G4S staff seemed uninterested and unaware of any procedures in place. No plan, no leadership no clue."

Another user Shaun Ward added: "Very orderly evacuation by all fans with very little information or direction."

Glasgow Warriors apologised for the disruption to the game but explained that the safety of the fans from both sides was paramount.
