The daughter of a missing woman from Cumbernauld has described her disappearance as out of character.

Bev Kane got into a taxi which was headed for East Kilbride between 3am and 5am on New Year's Day.

The 36-year-old woke her daughter Megan Anne Kane, 17, who was also at their home on Ainslie Road, to tell her she was going out, but never told her where.

Her family believe she has never been to East Kilbride before and doesn't know anyone from the area.

At the time of her disappearance, Bev was wearing a black jacket with a grey fur hood and dark denim jeans.

Megan added: "The family are absolutely distraught and we just want her home as we're really worried and stressed out."

Bev has since been traced by police.
