RESIDENTS in the east end have been warned to be vigilant after a string of housebreakings.
Councillor Allan Casey has advised Denniston residents to take extra care of their property following the rise.
A dedicated team of police officers are working within the area to catch those responsible.
Councillor Casey added: "There has been a few break ins and attempted break ins in the Drives recently.
"Please keep a look out in the back courts and closes for any suspicious behaviour and report to the Police also please ensure all your windows and doors are secure.
"Make sure that your property is secure when leaving your home.
"At his time of year it is also advisable to put lamps on timers."
