A POLICE helicopter is assisting in the search for a missing Clydebank man last seen in Dumbarton.

Scott McSporran was last seen by his brother in Ardoch Crescent in the Brucehill area of Dumbarton around 8pm on Friday, December 29.

The 42-year-old is described as white, 5ft 8, slim build, clean shaven with short black hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a grey bubble jacket, black north face jumper, blue denim jeans and orange and blue Nike trainers.

As reported by the Clydebank Post, Police Air confirmed via social media they were currently assisting colleagues on the ground as the search for Mr McSporran continues.

Inspector Roddy MacNeil of the Community Police at Dumbarton said: "Scott has been missing for several days now and his family say that it is out of character for him not to be in contact for such time.

“I urge anyone who has seen Scott since Friday, December 29, or anyone who knows of his current whereabouts to contact Police at Dumbarton immediately via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 2268 of December 31, 2017.

"I also appeal directly to Scott to contact police to let us know he is safe and well."
