A heartbroken Lanarkshire daughter has turned to the public for help in bringing her mum’s body back home after she died while on holiday in Tenerife.

Tress Winning, 54, passed away on the island while on a Christmas break with her family.

However, the grandmother had no insurance, meaning the cost of bringing her body back home to her family has soared into the thousands.

Glasgow Times:

Now, daughter Louise Mullen, from Wishaw, has started a crowdfunding page to raise the much-needed cash.

“My mum passed away whilst on holiday in Tenerife. Unfortunately, there is no insurance and we need her back home where she belongs,” she explained in the GoFundMe page.

Louise added: “Hoping anyone who can donate anything at all to get her home as quickly as possible would be greatly appreciated.”

With a goal of £3,000, so far, Louise has managed to raise over £2,600.

In a heart-rending tribute to her mum online, Louise described how “words don’t begin to describe how I feel right now.”

She added: “All I know is my whole world has been turned upside down and the not knowing when she can be reunited [with us] is soul-destroying.

“She was my saviour, my rock and held me together when I was falling apart.

“Every year of my life, she took me and my kids into her home and made sure I was ready to stand alone with my kids. By God, she gave me it tight for my mistakes, but that is how I loved her.

“She made me see I had a life of my own to fight for. This isn’t goodbye, Mum. Long may your soul rest. I will be the first to meet you in your everafter. Love you with all my heart.”
