You don’t have to look far these days to find a festival to attend if you like beer, so this year will be no different in Glasgow.

The two-day ‘A Glasgow Beer Event’ is set to hit the South Side next month to help those who want to experience the popular drink for the first time.

It will also cater to the more experienced beer drinker.

The event is the brainchild of Paisley-based wholesalers AleselA which decided to create an event in the hope of “trying something different.”

Sponsored by The Bon Accord, the event will see around ten brewers from across the UK bring along their own mobile keg bars and there will be a separate bar serving up to 20 cask ales.

The breweries whose beers are being showcased on the cask bar are sending brewery staff to man the hand pumps behind the bar, resulting in an varied choice of high-quality beer for attendees to choose from.

The event aims to bring something to suit everyone, from the experienced beer geek to the novice beer enthusiast just starting out.

There will be food vendors at the event, providing plenty of tasty choices of so that no-one will be drinking on an empty stomach.

Co-founder of AleselA, Susan Jamieson, said: “There are obviously pros and cons to the various setups of festivals and events, but the bottom line for beer drinkers is that they want choice, value for money, and beers of consistently high quality.

“We’re hoping to extend the pubs’ and bars’ involvement past the actual event as well by having the breweries attending the event supply their beers to those pubs and bars involved in the weeks afterwards.

“We want to show people what’s out there in the beer world, to show that something as enjoyable as beer shouldn’t be constrained by rules and misconceptions.”
