A POLICEMAN called to deal with an inebriated driver described the incident as the "worst form of intoxication he has seen in his 13 years of being a police officer".

When Peter Milne was captured by cops, he got out of his vehicle and acted as if he had a cigarette in his hand. Although nothing there, he then pretended to roll one.

Continuing with his bizarre behaviour, the accused then became fascinated with a police witness' footwear. When eventually taken into custody the 48-year-old also pretended to snort imaginary powder from a table.

Fiscal depute Claire Whyte told Glasgow Sheriff Court that the arresting policeman described the event as "the worst form of intoxication he has seen in his 13 years of being a police officer".

Appearing in the dock for punishment, Milne pleaded guilty to driving along Croftfoot Road whilst unfit through drink or drugs on September 19 last year.

Sheriff Shona Gilroy endorsed Milne's licence and disqualified him from driving for 18 months.

The accused, of Craig Road, was also sentenced to a Community Payback Order with supervision for nine months and 60 hours of unpaid work to be completed within four months.
