A COMMUNITY organised Burns Supper has sold out within days of tickets going on sale.
The event was organised by the parent council at Battlefield Primary in Glasgow’s South Side and aims to celebrate the multi-culturalism of the area as well as honouring the traditions of Scotland’s national Bard.
Local spoken word poet Toni Seaward will deliver ‘the ballad of Battlefield’ and the address to the haggis will be delivered by headteacher Alan Shields.
The ceilidh band includes members of former Indie band Eugenius, who were feted by Nirvana’s Curt Cobain and young fiddlers from the primary and nursery will also perform.
The ceilidh is being held in the David Cargill Centre on January 27.
Caroline Morton, Chairwoman of Battlefield School Parents Council, said: “One of the aims of Battlefield Parent Council is to work with the school to create a welcoming community which is inclusive for all the children and their families.
“The Ceilidh was organised with this in mind whilst also celebrating some other Scottish traditions.”
