A DRUNK lashed out at an emergency crew that was called to help him.

Bruce Murphy found himself in the dock after punching an ambulance technician and kicking a copper following a boozy binge.

Fiscal depute Graham Macdonald told Glasgow Sheriff Court that it was around 11.30pm on September 18 last year when an ambulance team responded to a report of an injured drunk male in Hardgate Road.

The emergency crew found Murphy, 59, and attempted to get him into the ambulance so as he could be taken to hospital for treatment.

The accused threatened: “I’ll f****** punch you.”

After hitting an ambulance technician, he menaced: “I’ll kick f*** out of you.”

The police attended and witnessed Murphy staggering across the road. His angry tirade continued, which ended with him booting a constable.

Following his arrest, Murphy pleaded guilty to the two assaults. He also admitted acting in an aggressive manner by shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence and racial remarks, and attempting to exit a moving ambulance between Hardgate Road and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

In defence, Murphy’s bad behaviour was attributed to alcohol. However, the accused – who had no previous convictions – accepted full responsibility.

Murphy, of Harley Street, was sentenced to a Community Payback Order with 180 hours of unpaid work to be completed within four months.
