Police are hunting for a man who reportedly pulled a dog walker to the ground before trying to rob her in broad daylight.

The 52-year-old was attacked at around 12pm yesterday while she was walking her dog in the wooded area off Glenfield Road, Glenburn, Paisley.

The man grabbed from behind and pulled her to the ground before demanding money.

The woman was able to fight him off and, with the dog barking beside her and the suspect ran off into the woods empty handed.

The attacker is described as white, slim/medium build and he spoke with a foreign accent, possibly Eastern European. He was wearing a navy blue jacket, tracksuit bottoms and dark coloured trainers.

Detective Constable Stevie Craig, Paisley CID, said: “Thankfully the lady was not injured but she is extremely upset and distressed by what happened.

“Officers have been carrying our enquiries in the area but we would appeal to anyone who may either have seen or heard the attack take place or who may recognise the description of the man responsible.

“It’s possible he may have been hanging around the area for a while and with the area being a popular spot for dog walkers, it’s possible someone may have seen him loitering there.

"I would also ask anyone driving on Glenfield Road, Glenburn Road or roads off these around this time to check their dash cams for anyone fitting this description and contact 101 or attend your local police office with the footage."
