A MAN has been left with serious injuries after an unprovoked weapon attack in broad daylight. 

Detectives are appealing for information following the serious assault in the Govanhill area which took place on Saturday, December 23.

At around 3pm, a 38-year-old man was on Calder Street near to its junction with Daisy Street when he was approached by a man who was not known to him.

The man then attacked the victim with a weapon, possibly a glass bottle, which was hidden in a plastic carrier bag.

The suspect then made off along Daisy Street heading in the direction of Allison Street.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious facial injuries.

The suspect is described as white, between 45 and 55-years-old, of slim build, with ginger/brown hair and heavy ginger stubble.

He was also in possession of a plastic carrier bag.

Detective Constable John MClintock from Cathcart CID said: “This was a random and unprovoked attack which left the victim with serious facial injuries, which may leave permanent scarring.

“It is vital that we trace the despicable individual responsible and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened, or noticed a man matching the above description, to please get in touch.
