The Summerston teenager who was left fighting for his life in hospital after a quad bike accident is making a quick recovery, family members have said.
The Evening Times reported a week ago how Keiron Rafferty was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children after the incident in Glasgow.
Messages of support had been flooded in for the 14-year-old online, wishing the youngster and his family well as he lay in a critical condition.
Now, though, a close family member wrote online: “Keiron woke up from his induced coma. He’s now speaking and coming round to his usual self. Thank you to everyone who prayed and kept him in their thoughts.”

At the weekend, a relative said: “I spoke to him on the phone and it was as if the accident didn’t even happen.
“He’s speaking now and dishing out the orders as usual. It just shows you he’s definitely in the right place.
“He’s progressing so well.”
Keiron was injured in Summerston on the night of Thursday, January 11 with unconfirmed reports suggesting the accident took place in the car park of Asda Maryhill, in Rothes Drive.
Thousands of social media users shared a Facebook post showing the John Paul Academy pupil in hospital, which contained a message from the youngster’s family, warning others of the dangers of not wearing a helmet while on a quad or motorbike.

The post read: “Please always make sure you wear a helmet as this can be the consequences or maybe worse.
“Keiron is your typical young boy - they all like to show off - but is not wearing a helmet really worth your life?
“Please keep Keiron in your thoughts and prayers. He’s our wee fighter.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman previously told the Evening Times cops were called to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at around 23.35 on Thursday, January 11 to reports that a 14-year-old boy had been injured in Summerston and that enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
Police Scotland has since been contacted for an update.
