WEST End shops have been forced to close due to a power cut in the area.
Police were called to a manhole at Rosevale Street where it meets Dumbarton Road in Thornwood at around 9am on Tuesday after the cover had come off.
Residents reported of hearing an explosion and Scottish Power Energy Networks were called to the scene to carry out emergency repairs on a cable.
Officers stood guard at the scene while workmen carried out their investigations.
Those living in the G11 area including businesses however are without power.
Scottish Power said that a total of 54 properties are effected until around 8pm tonight.
The firm also warned motorists that traffic management measures are in place until the issue is resolved.
One resident Jill Ferguson told The Evening Times that many shops closed early or put signs on their windows explaining there was a power cut.
