A BOOKIES has been raided in Erskine with the thief making off with a four figure sum of cash.

The robber, who had a black scarf covering his face, carried out the raid at around 7pm on Monday.

Police said he entered Ladbrokes, Bargarran Square where he threatened a member of staff and demanded money.

The suspect made off out the rear of the shop with a four figure sum of money.

The 20 year-old staff member was uninjured but he is badly shaken as a result of the robbery.

The man responsible is described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s, and around 6ft in height and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, navy tracksuit bottoms with red stripes, black trainers and black gloves. He has a black scarf covering his face.

Detective Sergeant Alastair Semple, of Paisley Police Office, said: “The investigation into this robbery is continuing, and officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen this man acting suspiciously in the area and near to the underpass into Blantyre Court, or anyone with information that will assist the ongoing investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3007 of 22nd January.
