A SELECTION of cars taking part in this year's Monte Carlo Classic Rally will be making a pit stop in Clydebank.

West Dunbartonshire Council and event sponsors Imperial Commercials is hosting a send-off extravaganza for the local car taking part in this year's race.

In less than a fortnight, drivers Scott Fanning and Hugh Liddle will begin their epic journey to Southern France in a 1968 Hillman Imp.

In addition to the send-off, this event will also feature some of the other vintage cars taking part.

Bailie Agnew, convener of communications, museums and cultural development, said: “I am pleased to be hosting this send-off event for our Monte Carlo Rally car. I am also delighted to welcome the cars from Aberdeen to Clydebank, and it will be tremendous for residents to see these magnificent vehicles and their dedicated owners.

“I hope this year’s event will be a great success and I would encourage as many people as possible to come to Dalmuir Park and the areas along the route to show their appreciation and support for the drivers.”

The event will take place next Wednesday, January 31 at 3pm in Dalmuir Park.
