CLUB 1872 have launched a campaign to raise £1million as part of the upcoming Light Blues share issue.

The supporters organisation are the second largest shareholders at Ibrox and recently polled members about the possibility of pushing for representation alongside chairman Dave King and his directors on the board.

The Gers hierarchy will hold a share issue in the coming months to provide additional cash and allow a portion of the loans from the likes of King and Douglas Park to be converted to equity.

Club 1872 have a 10.71 per cent stake in RIFC plc and will be given the chance to invest once again following the passing of Resolution 11 at the AGM in November.

And the group hope fans will stump up £1million to maintain their shareholding and provide funds for Rangers going forward.

Laura Fawkes, Club 1872 Director, said:“We all know that Rangers is a massive club, but the landscape of European football is changing, with huge amounts of TV money pouring into the big leagues like England and Spain. As a Club, we need to find ways of playing to our strengths to rebuild and develop, and without a doubt our key strength is the size and loyalty of our support. We know that fans already back the club with large amounts of money through season ticket and merchandise purchases, but by giving a little extra - from just £5 per month - we can make a huge difference.”

“One of the central messages we’re delivering today is that if we act together, fans can provide substantial additional revenue streams for Rangers. For the price of two pints each month, we can help rebuild our club. For the price of a pie and a bovril each month, we can leave a lasting legacy and show future generations that we fought for our club so that they would never have to experience what we have over the last few years.”

“Most Rangers supporters aren’t millionaires, but they don’t need to be because together we can invest millions of pounds in Rangers Football Club. The upcoming share issue will give Club 1872 its first opportunity to bring supporters together to do just that.”
