A DRUNK was snared by police as he snuck around a building in the dark.

William Rose has now been jailed after admitting he entered the Drumchapel premises with intent to steal.

Fiscal depute Clara Smeaton told Glasgow Sheriff Court that police received a report of a male wandering about a secure staff area in the Kinfauns Drive building at around 5.40pm.

During a search of the unlit ground floor, the officers heard a noise as if someone was hiding. The cops then came across the 38-year-old accused – who was standing with a torch looking into a bag.

Rose was transported to Clydebank police office, but was not charged at the time due to his level of intoxication.

The accused admitted that he intended to commit theft on February 2, 2017. He also pleaded guilty to struggling violently with the two constables who captured him.

Rose, who appeared from custody, was said to be serving a prison sentence for carrying a knife and would not be liberated until July this year.

Sheriff Norman Ritchie sentenced the accused, of Kinfauns Drive, to three months in jail so as not to affect his earliest release date from HMP Perth.
