A YOUNG Lennoxtown man who was warned by police to stop shouting told them to "f*** off".

John Craigie rebuked the officers' reprimand, responding: "I don't give a f***."

Fiscal depute Jennifer McKee told Glasgow Sheriff Court that the cops were initially called to an ongoing disturbance during the early hours of the morning when they came across the 22-year-old accused in the street with two other females.

Craigie questioned why the police were there. He then went into a nearby property and shouted from a window.

The officers asked him to desist, to which he replied "f*** off", "I don't give a f***" and "it's not my f****** house, I don't care" during his telling off.

Whilst the police were attending to other matters, the accused returned outside and was heard shouting: "What the f*** do yous want?"

He was thereafter arrested for his conduct.

Craigie later pleaded guilty to repeatedly shouting and swearing in Lennoxtown's Greenhead Road on December 30, 2017.

The accused's lawyer admitted that very little in mitigation could be offered in defence, but added that her client was genuinely remorseful of his actions.

She explained that the accused had got himself into the wrong crowd and linked his recent spate of offending to alcohol abuse.

It was claimed that Craigie recently brought his cannabis use under control and has been offered work experience from a family friend "to get him back on track".

Sheriff Neil MacKinnon sentenced the accused, of Holyknowe Crescent, to a Community Payback Order with supervision for 12 months and a conduct requirement to attend alcohol counselling as directed by his supervising officer.
