Filming for hit Scottish television series Outlander is taking place just outside Glasgow this week.

A sign was spotted outside Cumbernauld Glen in the Lanarkshire area informing residents that filming for a fourth series of Outlander, a time travelling drama set during the Jacobite risings in Scotland would be taking place Friday, January 26, Saturday, 27, Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30, between 8am and 7pm.

The notice read: "Filming activity will take place at one specific location within the Glen...We ask members of the public to exercise a degree of caution when near any crew, vehicles or equipment.

"Members of the public may be asked to wait for short periods of time whilst we are filming. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause." 

Outlander enthusiasts have shared their excitement about the filming taking place in such a public location. 

Ruth Swart wrote on Facebook: "NEED to get down there!"

Fans have also posted photos of props being built in the woods along with a horse and cart.
