THREE men rushed to a young woman's aid when she was attacked in Charing Cross.

The 26-year-old victim was walking along Newton Place at around 10.15pm last Monday, January 22, when she was grabbed from behind and dragged for a short distance by man.

Three men, in their late 20s/early 30s, heard the woman's screams and raced to her aid – pulling the man off her. The suspect then made off in an unknown direction.

He is described as white, in his 50s, slim with grey hair and was wearing a long black anorak.

Police have now appealed for information.

Detective Constable Ashley Convery, Drumchapel CID, said: “This was a very upsetting experience for the young woman who was heading home. She is very distressed by what happened and indeed it took a few days before she could come to police to say what happened.

“I am very keen to speak to the three men who came to her aid as I am sure it is because of them that this attack didn’t escalate and also they will have information that will assist us greatly in catching the man responsible.”

Any information about the attack can be passed to detectives at Drumchapel CID via 101. Details about the incident can also be given in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
