A YOUNG girl has been left distressed after being approached and touched by a man in Airdrie.

The 11-year-old was walking along Chapel Street around 12.15pm on Sunday January 28 when the man approached and pulled at her clothing.

Police are carrying out door to door enquiries and reviewing CCTV in the area to trace the man responsible.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, with a scruffy beard, brown/ginger hair and wearing dark blue jeans, a black coat, black hat and white Nike trainers.

Anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen the man, is asked to contact police at Airdrie Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 1889/28/01/18 when calling.
