A DRUG dealer pulled a woman over a fence in a bid to escape from the clutches of cops.

David Weston continually used his body weight against the plain-clothed constables to avoid being detained after he was stopped for smelling strongly of cannabis.

During the struggle the 43-year-old heroin addict was placed up against a fence in an effort to constrain him, but he used his strength to pull the female PC over with him.

When eventually captured and taken to Cathcart station, bags filled with powder were found underneath where Weston had been sitting in the police vehicle.

Eleven bags of diamorphine worth £450 were recovered alongside £33 worth of cocaine.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Weston pleaded guilty to having diamorphine in his possession with intent to supply in Gardenside Avenue on January 3 this year.

In addition, he admitted being caught with cocaine alongside assaulting a constable by seizing her on the body and pulling her to the ground to her injury.

In defence it was explained that the accused had found himself in debt after abusing heroin and cocaine. A proportion of the heroin recovered was for social supply to friends to help repay the money owed.

Weston's lawyer claimed he was eager to tackle his drug problem.

The agent stated: "He's protested that he's motivated. He's protested that he's committed."

Sheriff Linda Ruxton referred the case to Sheriff Lindsay Wood's drugs court. Weston, of Rosslyn Avenue in East Kilbride, will return for punishment on March 6.
