A DRUNKEN woman kicked a passenger on the head on a public bus in Glasgow, a court has heard.

Victoria McClosky, 33, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to the attack.

McClosky, of Old Wood Road, Baillieston, admitted that she assaulted the woman and kicked her on the head on a public bus service at Aitkenhead Road in the city's South Side on September 17, last year.

The court heard that McClosky was visibly upset on the bus which prompted the victim's son to ask if she was okay. The attack happened afterwards.

McClosky's defence agent told the court that his client had "little or no recollection" of the incident.

He added that McClosky had been at an anti-trident rally in George Square prior to the incident where she had been consuming alcohol.

The court also heard that self employed accounts assistant McClosky had been studying at university, and the incident meant she may need to withdraw from her studies.

Sentencing sheriff Gerard Bonnar said: "The court cannot tolerate behaviour like this on a public bus towards a member of the public."

McClosky was placed on supervision for one year. She will also complete 180 hours of unpaid work in the community within six months.
