A PERSON was almost struck by a train – causing rail delays for commuters.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Elderslie, between Paisley and Johnstone, at 4.22pm this afternoon.

A spokesman for British Transport Police later confirmed that the person was not hit by a train.

ScotRail confirmed all services in the area had been cancelled following the incident.

All lines between Paisley Gilmour Street and Johnstone were closed, while services between Glasgow and Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan Harbour were suspended or started from Kilwhinning.
