A FIRST-time offender broke into a house, and stole a laptop and £100 worth of money, a court has heard.

Kyle Paterson, 22, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He admitted the theft which happened at West Farm Grove in Cambuslang on June 8, 2016.

Paterson’s defence agent told the court that he is a first time offender who had no recollection of the offence.

The whisky bond worker, of Prosen Street, Tollcross, had taken illicit drugs when he committed the theft.

His defence agent said he had been experimenting with street Valium but has since addressed the problem.

His defence agent said: “His behaviour is described by him and his family as out of character.”

Paterson will complete 180 hours of unpaid work in the community within 10 months. He was also placed under supervision for one year.
