COMMUTERS are set to face more travel misery on Tuesday as a combination of rain, snow and subzero temperatures bring about potentially hazardous conditions.
The Met Office has issued fresh warnings across Glasgow and its surrounding areas, advising residents of a freezing start to the second day of the half-term holidays, with temperatures set to drop as low as -1C.
Forecasters are already expecting heavy snow and hail showers on Monday, leaving many roads and pavements icy.
Issuing the new yellow warning, which is in place from 3am on Tuesday until 3pm, the weather service said: “A band of heavy rain and hill snow will increasingly turn to snow at lower levels as it moves east through Tuesday morning and early afternoon.
“Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snow with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
“Some flooding on roads is also possible.”
The M8 saw tailbacks on Monday as drivers were forced to slow down during their morning commute.
Glasgow City Council workers were also out in full force gritting and clearing pavements and pathways.
