A RACIST who branded a support worker a "fenian b******" has been jailed for his appalling behaviour.

Graham Pollock was drunk when he insulted the staff at Fordneuk Accommodation and Alcohol Support Service in Bridgeton last month.

It was around 4.15pm when the 57-year-old accused approached the complainer within the dining area to ask for some fruit.

Pollock became abusive, stating: "You baldy b******."

He was taken to the reception area and warned about his conduct, however whilst on a 'time out' he called one staff member a "f****** catholic waste of space", adding: "Get back to Ireland you fenian b******."

The police were called and arrested the intoxicated accused.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Pollock pleaded guilty to repeatedly shouting and swearing towards members of staff at Fordneuk Accommodation and Alcohol Support Service on January 13, 2018.

He also admitted uttering threats of violence, as well as racist and sectarian remarks.

In defence it was explained that Pollock was currently remanded in custody for another matter. His lawyer accepted that the Criminal Justice Social Work report was "certainly not" positive, adding that the accused "appreciates his current position".

Sheriff Allan Findlay sentenced Pollock to 70 days in jail.
