Still Game actor Scott Reid has been targeted by online trolls on the day the air date of the smash-hit sitcom was revealed.
Taking to Twitter to celebrate the news alongside his fellow castmates on Thursday, the Glasgow-born star - who plays Methadone Mick - told his 11,400 followers: “Methadone Mick is back!”
However, the post did not go down well with some fans of the show who quickly turned on the 24-year-old.

“Hope Methadone Mick gets killed aff in the new season. Worst c***,” was one reply.
Another site user hit back: “Aww f*** off man the least funniest c*** that’s ever been on the show.”
“Awful character” was another comment.
Reid seemed to take all negative comments on the chin as he replied “Cheers mate!” to everyone.
Reid burst onto our television screens in the BBC Scotland comedy series in the autumn on 2016.
The actor went on to win a legion of fans for his role as Methadone Mick, a recovering drug addict with a heart of gold.
As reported by the Evening Times on Thursday, BBC Scotland confirmed the highly-anticipated date in a tweet.

“Still Game returns on Thursday, March 8 on BBC One.”
The channel also posted a video clip containing hilarious new scenes viewers can expect.

The Evening Times previously reported how the cast started filming for series eight of the hit comedy show in July.
Jack (Ford Kiernan) and Victor (Greg Hemphill) along with Methadone Mick (Scott Reid) and Isa (Jane McCarry) sent fans into a frenzy after being snapped on the first day of filming.

The show is back after returning in 2016 following a nine-year hiatus.

In Scotland, the last series of Still Game was the most watched non-sporting programme in more than a decade with weekly episodes regularly attracting over half of the total audience.

The original run of the sitcom, starring and written by Kiernan and Hemphill, aired for six series between 2002 and 2007, transferring from BBC Scotland to BBC Two.
The new series was filmed in the Dumbarton studios and on location around Glasgow during the summer last year.
