TWO of Scotland's biggest running clubs will go toe to toe in a mob match challenge.

Bellahouston Road Runners and Bellahouston Harriers will compete at Pollok Park Run to see who can get the most runners over the finish line.

The clubs used to be one but split 15 years ago so stakes for winning the trophy are high.

Danny Phillips, of Bellahouston Road Runners, said: "It is very competitive but great fun.

"You just run the course as hard as you can and try and beat the runner next to you.

"Hopefully it will also highlight the benefits of running and park runs.”

The mob match idea is more than 100 years old but this is believed by the two clubs to be the only one in Scotland.

Last year's race - the first - was won by the Road Runners and so the Harriers are vying to take back the cup.

Organisers say the run, today, is a friendly rivalry and will see around 80 runners take part with points for every one across the line.
