This is the moment a runaway Asda delivery driver crashed into a mum's car before shamelessly driving away from the scene.

Lindsey Mannion, 42, was fuming when she watched back shocking footage of the van clipping the side of her £40,000 Mitsubishi Outlander at 9am on February 9.

The CCTV shows the supermarket employee scraping the side of the car - leaving a huge dent, a hole in one of the panels and a slashed tyre.

The mum-of-two was out at the time and did not notice the damage until the following morning, which prompted her to watch the footage back.

She has since made numerous calls to the supermarket giant in a bid to track the driver down and get insurance details - and has had to shell out £800 for a hire car.

Lindsey, of Derby, says she will be without the company vehicle - which is less than two years old - for another week.

Speaking yesterday (Sat), the accounts manager said: "I just cannot get my head around a trained delivery driver going into my car like that and not leaving a note.

"It was a hefty collision, so there's no chance that he could have not noticed it.

Glasgow Times:

"The incident probably did damage to his van as well, which surely would have been noticed when got back to the depot.

"Maybe he thought: 'There's no one around, I can get away with it.'

"But they've got dashcam footage in their vehicles, and houses around here have CCTV too. How stupid can you get?

"These things happen, but if you leave a note behind then everybody accepts it and moves on in the appropriate manner. By trying to chance it, he's just left everyone worse off - it's inconceivable.

Glasgow Times:

"In all honesty, I didn't see the damage until the morning after it had happened, as I was out with a friend all day and didn't get back till late.

"I was so puzzled when I first saw the marks on the car, and couldn't see any evidence of a note anywhere.

"After seeing the footage itself, I just couldn't believe it. It's such arrogance to drive into someone like that and try to get away with it.

"So far, Asda have been dreadful in the way they've sorted it out.

"I phoned them on the Saturday (10/2) to report the incident, and when I phoned back on Monday (12/2) to get their details and make a claim, the woman on the other end of the phone said she couldn't because of confidentiality.

"How crazy is that?

"I even knew where the driver was delivering the goods too, when it happened and what his number plate was, so it's not like they did have the relevant information to hand.

"Thankfully my insurance said they'd authorise the repair work anyway, as we probably will end up getting those details.

"It's so frustrating, I've been left without my car for a week and have had to shell out £800 on a hire car. I might well be able to get that back on insurance, but it's an inconvenience and a real wretch to see that money leave your account.

"For someone that travels around a lot like me, your car as a prized possession - especially when it's a company car.

"Eventually I did get an apology for them, but it's taken a week and a lot of phone calls."

A spokesperson for Asda said: "We're very sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused to Mrs Mannion.

"We are thoroughly investigating the matter and will remain in touch with her throughout to resolve this."
