An ex-teacher who was struck off after she was embroiled in a sex scandal with a pupil, has begun a new business venture, aiding charities linked to young people.

The business, Here for Growth, provides professional help to third sector organisations such as charities and voluntary groups that want to develop and grow into something big.

Four years after it was revealed teacher, Eppie Sprung, was in a relationship with a pupil, she divorced her husband, Ranald Dawson, son of former solicitor-general Lord Dawson.

Sprung was struck off by the Catholic St Joseph's College in Dumfries and placed on the sex offenders register after she was caught in a compromising position with the pupil, following a school dance in December 2012.

The 31-year-old was later found unfit to teach by a disciplinary panel and consented to being removed from the register for a minimum of two years – though she went on to launch a legal action in a bid to lift a ban on working with children, reports the Daily Record.

On the Facebook page of her new business venture, Sprung shared a Valentines post claiming she was happy being single and focusing on her work, the post said: "This year for Valentine’s Day I’m going to opt for loving life instead!

"I’ve had the most incredible six months with support from wonderful organisations and individuals.

"Every single day I’m surrounded by people who are literally changing the world - improving their community (of geography, interest or identity)... increasing peoples’s life chances... removing the barriers that are currently stopping people from living the life they deserve. I couldn’t be luckier!"

She continued: "I’m really excited about what 2018 has to bring so I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me plenty in the months to come!"

The company, that was set up ten years ago by the former English teacher, boasts that "her broad range of experience has enabled her to develop an extensive skill set that can be applied cross-sectorally".
