Plans for Scotland to be home to the world's first Affiliated National Association (ANA) dedicated to Para-Football have been revealed by the Scottish Football Association (SFA).

The Scottish Para-Football Association, as it will be known, will allow local and national para-football organisations to operate according to their specific needs.

Plans for the new governing body include provisions for different varieties of the game, including deaf football, visually impaired football, amputee football, and others.

The new organisation has been made possible by a £100,000 grant from the SFA.

The announcement came at the inaugural Scottish Para-Football Conference in Largs yesterday.

Aileen Campbell, Minister for Sport, said: “With the creation of the Scottish Para-Football Association – believed to be the first of its kind in the world – Scotland is leading the way globally in creating pathways for people to participate in football and fulfil their potential.

Ashley Reid of Amputee Football Association Scotland added: "The creation of the ANA sets a benchmark in para-football, ensuring fairness, sustainability and empowerment."
