PLANS to build new homes on surplus land next to a psychiatric hospital have moved forward.
A consortium of builders has been chosen for a development on lush grounds next to Dykebar Hospital in Paisley.
Cala Homes, Barratt and Bellway Homes will oversee the project and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has pledged to re-invest money from the sale into health services.
A public information meeting has been arranged for staff, patients and local residents where more details of the plans will be discussed.
Mary Anne Kane, interim director of Property, Procurement and Facilities Management, said: “The proposals will not affect the existing clinical and administrative functions located at Dykebar hospital.”
Andrew Duncan, Area Land Director of CALA Homes (West) said: “All three consortium house builders are excited about the opportunity to build much needed homes on this site.
The meeting is taking place on March 1 from 12noon to 7pm in ward 16 of the hospital.
