A YOUNG man threatened to smash his mum’s car and batter his dad during a fit of rage.

John Craigie, 22, branded his parents “f****** ar*******”, threw plant pots out onto the street, and threatened to kill neighbours during his abusive tirade.

In the end his mother dialled 999.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Craigie admitted attending uninvited at his parents’ house in Holyknowe Crescent on September 17, 2017. He pleaded guilty to shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence, uttering threats to damage property and throwing plant pots. He also admitted shouting, swearing and uttering threats to police on the way to the station following his arrest.

In defence it was explained that Craigie battled with booze, but was currently undertaking alcohol-focused work as part of a Community Payback Order (CPO) for a similar crime.

The accused was now said to be engaging with unpaid work through a friend of his dad’s in an attempt to get back on the straight and narrow.

Sheriff Diana McConnell deferred the case for six months for the accused to be of good behaviour and to monitor his progress on the CPO.

Craigie, of no fixed abode, will return to court on August 14.
