A BOYBAND is to stage a special show in memory of a schoolgirl who has died at the age of 16.

Members of Single By Sunday took to social media to express their grief after the death of Lucy Curran, who was one of the band’s biggest fans.

“We are going to be holding a memorial show to celebrate Lucy’s short but incredible life,” they wrote.

“We want to say a big thank-you to everyone who has shown their love for Lucy. Her family will appreciate it.”

Singer Josh Ladds described Lucy, from Giffnock, as “so kind-hearted and genuine.”

He added: “I will be thinking of you every time I walk on a stage but we all know you will be up there watching and dancing along to the music.”

Lucy, who was a pupil at St Ninian’s High, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, in the early hours of February 14.

Police have said her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Lucy’s friends from school have also been paying tribute.

Eleanore DeSouza posted this message on Facebook: “Have only known you a few months but you’ve always had the most beautiful personality, smile and welcoming nature.

“So glad to have met you. Strength and love to all your family and friends.”

Chloe Mcfarlane added: “RIP Lucy, sleep tight. My best friend was your best friend. I’ll never forget how much she talked about you.

“She loved you so much. She still does. I’ll never forget her face when she found out.”

East Renfrewshire MP Paul Masterton said he was saddened to hear of Lucy’s death.

He added: “All my thoughts are with her parents, family and friends.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

When contacted a spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council said staff at St Ninian’s High would not be commenting on the tragedy.
