A MAN has been left with a facial injury after a fight which started in a flat and spilled out into a common close.

Detectives are investigating the serious assault which happened at around 1.25am on Friday, February 23.

They say they received a report of a disturbance in Waukmill Street, Carnwadric.

A 40-year-old man was seriously assaulted and sustained a facial injury.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Enquiries carried out so far indicate the disturbance may have originated inside a flat before spilling out into the common close area.

Detectives said there is currently no information on the attackers and the motive for the assault is unknown.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries which as yet have yielded very little information regarding the incident.

Detectives are in the process of gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area for any information which could assist the investigation.

Detective Constable Chris McKeown said: “I am appealing to local people in the area to contact us with any information regarding this incident.

"A man has suffered a serious facial injury and it’s vital we establish exactly how and why that happened.
