A MAN was stabbed with a knife in his flat in a violent and targeted attack in Dumbarton.

Cops are now hunting for the knife thug who struck at around 9pm on Friday, February 23.

The force said the 34-year-old victim was within his home in Bonhill Road, Dumbarton when a man entered and attacked him with a knife before running out of the flat.

He was then rushed by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is currently being treated for stab wounds. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

The culprit is described as white, 6ft tall and was wearing a blue jumper.

Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, at Clydebank CID, said: "Although we are trying to establish a motive for this violent attack we strongly believe that this was not random and that the 34-year-old man was the intended target. Never the less we will not tolerate such acts of violence and will endeavour to trace the person responsible.

"Officers are currently in the vicinity speaking to neighbours and local people in an attempt to gain further information and there will be additional high visibility patrols in the area who I would encourage local residents to speak to if they have any information or concerns.

"Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Clydebank CID immediately via 101 quoting incident number 4120 of 23 February 2018."
