SCREENINGS as part of Glasgow Film Festival have been cancelled due to bad weather.

Organisers have announced that any screenings due to take place after 5pm will no be going ahead.

Any tickets purchased by card, online or on the phone, will be automatically refunded.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, film fans headed to the city the biggest festival of its kind in Britain.

Over 40,000 people are expected to attend events throughout the 11-day event. 

A statement from Film Festival bosses, said: “We apologise for any disappointment. Our priority is the safety of our volunteers, staff and audience.

“If you purchased tickets for this evening using your card, online or by phone, you will be refunded automatically.

“For all other purchases contact ticketing@glasgowfilm.org.

“We will issue further updates on screenings taking place on Thursday 1 March onwards, tomorrow morning.

“Thank you for your understanding and patience.”

The festival team earlier announced that their special event pop-up cinema School Disco: Clueless and School Disco would be rescheduled.

The announcement read: "The Glasgow Film Festival team have been assessing the situation at SWG3 this morning.

"Due to the nature of our Special Event pop-up cinema and as a result of adverse weather conditions, School Disco: Clueless and School Disco: Gregory’s Girl at SWG3 tonight will be rescheduled.

"The event will not take place this evening. The event has been rescheduled for Wednesday 7 March, all tickets will remain valid.

"We apologise for any disappointment and thank you for your understanding and patience, many thanks to SWG3 and Cameron Presentations for their assistance.

"If you are unable to attend on 7 March, please contact ticketing@glasgowfilm.org with the subject line ' School Disco'."
