SCOTLAND should be promoted as a gay tourist destination according to former Labour leader Kezia Dugdale.

The MSP said the country would get an economic boost by openly welcoming LGBT tourists.

Ms Dugdale said we should tell the world Scotland is an open and inclusive destination for LGBT visitors.

She highlighted the benefits of Pride events across the country bringing people to Scotland from the UK and beyond.
Ms Dugdale, said “Pride events can help change attitudes towards LGBT people, as well as helping to increase local tourism and boost local economies.
"This year is going to be a record year for Pride events in Scotland, and that is something to celebrate as we strive for greater equality.
“But as well as being great for visibility and empowerment, these events are also good for local economies.
“We can be rightly proud of our record on LGBT rights in Scotland, and I have asked ministers to reflect on whether we do enough to tell the world about that."
Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop said that she recognised the contribution of LGBTI events for tourism and said visit Scotland was making improvements in marketing to attract more visitors and ensure they are welcome.
