The Tories have cancelled their Scottish Conference after the weather advice is still not to travel.

The party was due to gather in Aberdeen from tomorrow for their annual conference with people traveling from all over Scotland.

However with amber warnings still in place and people advised not to travel the party took a decision to scrap the conference.

Party leader Ruth Davidson said safety came first.

On twitter she said "Delegates safety comes first, so reluctantly  conference is now cancelled due to Amber warning being extended into tomorrow. My thanks to Police Scotland, the SG Resilience Unit and Scot Gov ministers who have kept us informed of changing weather and travel situation."

Mark McInnes, party director e mailed delegates to inform them of the decision.

He said: "As I intimated earlier we have been in close contact with relevant authorities with regard to the safe continuation of our Conference in Aberdeen. It is with deep regret that I have to inform you in the interests of safety we have had no choice but to cancel the Conference.

"As you will see from the tweets below the Met Office has extended the severe Amber warning until 10am tomorrow morning which means no travel during this time. We cannot allow our Conference to put any attendee at risk."

He said a replacement event would be planned in the future.
