COPS believe someone can give them information on a shooting which happened almost 10 years ago in Glasgow's Chinatown.

Detectives are re-appealing for information as they continue their hunt for the hitman who carried out an attack on Louise Brown on May 21, 2008.

They believe they may catch their man and say no one came forward previously because of misplayed loyalty or fear of reprisal.

Louise was 47 when she was targeted by a scarfaced man in an office in New City Road Glasgow's Chinatown shopping centre.

She had gone there after a friend in finance asked if she could return documentation for a mortgage to a client.

Glasgow Times:

The financial adviser had been working alone within the office at the time of the shooting, which officers believe took place around 2pm.

She was found forty minutes later seriously injured.

She was taken by ambulance to hospital where she was found to be suffering from gunshot injuries. She was treated then later released.

Last year, Louise, from Deaconsbank, broke her silence and revealed the moment she came face to face with the hitman.

She said: “He opened his jacket to show me his gun tucked into his trousers. He said. ‘Don’t worry, you’re alright’. The next thing I heard was a huge bang."

Glasgow Times:

Despite extensive enquiries, numerous media appeals and also an artist’s impression of a man seen in the area at the time, officers have yet to trace the person responsible.

Detective Inspector Peter Sharp, of City Centre Police Office, said: “Although over nine years has passed since this incident, all new lines of enquiry will be vigorously pursued, and we would urge anyone who hold information that may assist this attempted murder investigation to now come forward to police.

“I am convinced that someone has information regarding who is responsible for this attempted murder, and for some reason has not yet come forward to police. This may be due to misplayed loyalty or fear of reprisal. I would ask anyone in that position to look to their conscience and consider the anguish that the victim has gone through these past nine years. Please do the right thing and come forward. Any information you give can be treated in confidence and those with concerns can also phone Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information should contact City Centre Police Office through 101. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
