PLANS for a new dentist in Colston have been refused after residents raised concerns over a lack of parking in the area.

Tiwari Watson Dental Care wanted to turn a home on Colston Road into a dental practice with four consulting rooms.

In their planning application, Joseph Watson, of Tiwari Watson Dental Care, stated: "The proposal is for a change of use from a residential property to a dental surgery.

"The property is for sale and if planning permission is granted for a change of use, I would like to buy it and convert it in to a dental surgery."

The dental firm added that they currently operate on Springburn Road.

Two letters of representation were made to the council about concerns over parking.

In the handling report, it is stated: "Parking will be a significant problem should this property change its use to a dentist practice.

"The property does not have any of its own road side parking, yellow lines are present at all

road sides in front of the property on Colston Road and Springburn Road.

"There is inadequate parking provision on or near this property with no (only two disabled

spaces proposed) provision for staff or customer parking.

"It is on the corner of a busy junction, and as such access and parking would be difficult and to the detriment of road safety."

The report also stated that the requirements for maximum parking is two spaces per room and one space per four staff while the applicant was only proposing two spaces within the site curtilage.
