A CAR linked to a hit on a football manager in Cambuslang was stolen in Shawlands.

Cops still hunting for the gunman responsible for shooting Paul McColl revealed more details surrounding the attack which happened in Borgie Crescent two weeks ago on Wednesday, February 21.

Glasgow Times:

We previously revealed that the Cambuslang Rangers manager, 48, was found with gunshot wounds in Cadoc Street at around 8.50pm.

He had been shot a short time earlier whilst within a black Peugeot 206 vehicle in Borgie Crescent, near to a lane leading to Cadoc Street. He made his way to the Kirkhill Inn in Cadoc Street and emergency services were called.

Glasgow Times:

Paul, who was in an induced coma, is now recovering well after he was left with injuries to his face and stomach. He received treatment for the life threatening injuries at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Detectives say shortly after the shooting, a report was made of a car on fire in Turnlaw Road near to East Greenlees Road, Cambuslang. This vehicle was identified as a silver Ford Focus, reported stolen between January 1 and 2, this year from the Shawlands area.

Glasgow Times:

Detective Inspector Stephen Tennant, from the Major Investigation Team (West), said: “Although this was a targeted attack and the 48 year-old man would appear to be the intended victim, we realise that such incidents do cause alarm. There are increased patrols in the area and I would like to reassure the local community that everything is being done to trace whoever is responsible, however we do need their help.

“We will trace whoever is responsible for this attempted murder, but we would appreciate any information that the local community can provide. Don’t assume what we know. Any detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove vital to the investigation.

“Again, I would urge anyone with information to come forward. I would like to speak to anyone who was in Borgie Crescent or Cadoc Street around the time of the incident who hasn’t yet spoken to police. In particular we are trying to trace a man wearing a pink top who was in Borgie Crescent around 8.30pm that evening. I would also ask anyone who was in the area of Turnlaw Road near to East Greenlees Road who may have noticed any cars parked or anyone making off from the scene, and anyone who may have information regarding the stolen Ford Focus.

“I would like to make a further appeal for any motorists with dash cameras who were in the area, and may have captured any footage of the incident to please come forward.

Glasgow Times:

Anyone with information can contact officers through 101, or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
