TWO bogus callers almost conned an elderly woman out of £10,000 on Glasgow's South Side.
The men are understood to be operating in several areas including Cardonald, Crookston and Ralston.
The Evening Times has been told that a woman in her 80s was targeted by the men who offered to do some work in her garden.
It is understood that they persuaded the woman that the state of her garden was illegal and she needed the work to rectify that.
It is claimed that the woman handed over a cheque to the men worth £10,000 but it was never cashed after the bank intervened.
Police Scotland confirmed that they were aware of the incident and that their enquiries are at an early stage.
The force said they received a report of the incident on Friday and added that their investigation was ongoing.
