Mr Sweeney said: We need to set an example in this house and all honourable and right honourable members should immediately and permanently desist from appearing on any Russian propangandist channels including Russia Today and Sputnik.2

the Prime Minister said: " that's a very good point. I have spoken about what action the Government can take but there are actions individual members of this house can take to send a clear message."

Former First Minister, Alex Salmond, has been criticised from hosting a chat show on RT and has faced calls to quit the channel in the wake of the latest diplomatic incident.

Mr Sweeney later pointed out that Conservative MPs have accepted the most money from RT and Sputnik according to reports.
